My thoughts....
The types of sites (more or less reading required) could be tailored to the specific ability levels. Also, the annotations could be as simple or difficult as you wish. Within a class of students, you could have different trackstars for differing ability levels...or instruct some students to complete only 2-3 sites, while allowing the more-advanced kids to visit 5-6 sites. Advanced students could also be required to complete a project after visiting the sites. Students could also be grouped according to ability levels for completing the trackstar.
